Record crowds and roaring engines: the 2023 Mildura Easter Powersports Show and Shine was a huge success!

Published on October 6, 2023

Phew! Another Easter in the review mirror, and what an Easter it was!

The Mildura Easter Powersports Show and Shine is not only a highlight on the Mildura City Heart event calendar, but also an iconic attraction for locals and tourists alike for our region.

There’s nothing quite like the Easter long weekend in Mildura. The weather starts to cool a little; gracing us with crisp nights and bright, blue sunny autumn days. There’s a casual, relaxed yet somewhat electric atmosphere as our streets start to fill with visitors, all embarking on our sunny town seeking the adrenaline rush the powersports long weekend brings.

And how lucky we feel that MCH gets to host the event that kicks off the whole weekend, the Mildura Easter Powersports Show and Shine! Covid left a blaringly obvious hole in Easter in 2020 with the major event being cancelled, returning in 2021 with major COVID restrictions limiting the event as we know it, and last year with record crowds and new covid safe structures in place.

Each year the event betters the previous year’s attendance numbers and continues to blow us away with the extravaganza that is the comradery of our local powersports clubs. This year, the crowds and the crew didn’t disappoint. Excellent numbers, for not only the crowd but participants showcasing the gloss and grunt of their boats, bikes, cars and more.

I want to say a very big thank you to the motorsport clubs that really bring the magic to the event, taking the time to show and shine, but also to display our region to the visitors that flock to Sunraysia for the weekend. The businesses that forego the Good Friday public holiday to stay open. And to each and every one of you that wandered into the streets – the community, the spectators, visitors, locals, it never ceases to fill me with pride in our community, standing back just before wrapping up at 1pm and taking it all in.

Events play a vital role in our region, connecting community and attracting visitors that we see returning time and time again, and with the speedhump that was Covid well and truly behind us, seeing events up and running again brings back an integral part in not only the City Heart calendar, but tourism for our region.

So, what’s to come for the rest of the year? I’m going to dive into the stash of left over Easter eggs and get planning, so stay tuned!
